SALT ADIT
PRESOV, SLOVAKIA

The adit was excavated in 1571 to a depth of 155 meters. In 1674 the building Gápľa was built over it with traction equipment. In 1752 the adit was flooded and so the mining of stone salt by deep mining was stopped. The salt mining continued until 1970, when the salt mining was terminated.

This project saved the cultural monument in salt works in Prešov. 4 remedial boreholes were drilled, 2 in the shaft body and 2 in the vicinity. Through the remedial wells in the shaft body was carried out the restoration of the underground space by the floated foundation. At present the shaft is stabilized and regular measurements of the salt level in the HPS - 1 well take place.
